yeah I wasnt too keen on crocodile. Aligator however was ok - guess it's how it was cooked.

Kangaroo is nice but don't overdo it as it goes like leather very quickly. Anything more than medium and it's a write off.
Possum is interesting, but doubt you'll get that here - if in NZ however....
Kudu and similar antelope are good beef alternatives. A good cut of that will go a long way on a BBQ
Stuff to avoid: pigeon, wild rabbit (other than loin), rat and squirrel. (Rubbish on a BBQ + too many bones)

Can't say I'm very adventurous on meats. I prefer to stick to what I know I like, and just concentrate on getting the best quality I can afford, and maybe trying different ways of cooking it. Most of the 'exotic' stuff mentioned holds no interest or appeal for me at all. I'm more adventurous on vegetables (etc) though. There, I'll try almost anything at least once.
What, you?
Really??!!
Never!!!
My Mrs was just like that and steadfastly refused to try anything outside of her comfort zone, particularly sausages as she'd only ever had the cheapest, crappiest ones as a child... Then she met me and I cooked, leaving her no alternative. She now has a very expensive habit involving biltong, droewors, boerewors, venison sausages and steaks, pork chops and particularly our local burger van!
Do you go in for any of those veg boxes, like the Able & Cole stuff?
They have some pretty entertaining things in those, although let me save you the trouble of trying the different beetroots - They *all* suck!!
As I keep getting told by the Saffies - "You don't do Kudu on a 'barbecue', boet... You do it on a braai!".
However, given that the strict rules of the braai only ever seems to allow beef steak, pork chops, sosaties and boerewors (fish if you're near the coast, sausies and burgers if there are kids), none of them has managed to explain where the Kudu comes in... and they get very het up if you challenge them on it!!
We're having a braai this weekend, as it happens, so I might get some on just to see what happens...
I've tried Lidl frozen Kangaroo - not bad. Had Aldi Wagyu beef burgers for my hamburger meat in the meat in the middle. Nice and tender. Not tried the exotic meat range yet at Iceland but their wood fire meat feast pizza is pretty good though the portion itself isn't enough.
I think that, bearing in mind how many quality sheep we breed here in the UK, I find it (bizarre and ) exotic that so many people still buy NZ Lamb !

And in the same meal, alledly Possum, but it had a long tail so I'm not sure...
But on a lighter note,
I ordered an alligator burger at a fast food place......
They were really snappy!

Pervert.....
I suppose troll is though.
The Armadillo and Possum were both served in a restaurant on a Carribean Island.

Um, I guess that wasn't exactly the shock revelation of the century, was it?
Abel & Cole? No, can't say I do.
Two reasons. The first is another announcement from the Ministry of the Flippin' Obvious .... I avoid any and all unnecessary mail or online ordering.
Second, I much prefer to plan what I'm going to cook, and get what I need for it, both in terms of items and quantity, than order blind and then work out what to do with it.
I guess reason 2 has a second part to it. We're really fortunate in having a really good little grocers shop, that reminds me of pre-supermarket high-street grocers .... fairly small quantities, but carefully selected, mostly locally grown and often seasonal. Tastes great, though.
I've tried all sorts and figure I'd try just about anything once.
This place -> http://www.meaford.com/teds/#Our%20Menu in Ontario, Canada used to have a great selection. I could have happily worked my way through the menu when I was there a few years back.
Horse isn't something I like or something I want to eat. I've tried it but it isn't to my tastes. Elk was delicious, probably my favourite. Aligator was nice enough but a bit bland.
