    Bolognese

    Hey guys,

I've just made a bolognese and it's nice, but not mind blowing ... can anyone suggest some tweaks to this recipe?

    Ingredients
4 Tbsps Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    1 Large Onion (Diced)
    2 Cloves Garlic (Crushed)
    250g Closed-Cup Mushrooms (Quartered)
    1 Red Pepper (Diced)
    500g Minced Beef
    1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes
    2 Heaped Dessertspoons Tomato Puree

    Seasoning
    Salt
    Freshly Ground Black Pepper
    Tabasco
    Worcestershire Sauce
    Dried Oregano

    Method
Fry off the onion and garlic in the olive oil until the onion goes translucent. Add the mushrooms and pepper and continue to fry until most of the liquid from the mushrooms has disappeared. Add the minced beef and cook until all brown. Add the tomatoes; tomato puree; plenty of salt and black pepper; a couple of teaspoons of dried oregano; and a tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce. Simmer for about 20-25 minutes and immediately before serving add in a couple more tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce and as much Tabasco as your taste buds like.

It sure tasted nice, but like I said it didn't blow any tastebuds; so any help/advice/slapping is more than welcome

Yep, get yerself some basil, marjoram, a touch of dark soy and a couple of teaspoons of sugar in there! And after you've done the frying off bit, chuck in 2 tbsp of flour, then 300ml of STRING beef stock... that'll give you a nice sauce.

    That'll make it awesome!

I'd second the "what's String beef stock" thing (unless he's joking in which case it's just me asking .. can't tell heh), and also how much difference you think the flour makes? Cos I'm on Atkins and can't really add it lol
