    The Ideal Microwave Sandwhich?

Now since my new job began in January, I've discovered my need for hot foood at work.

I spend a lot more time outside, washing cars, and working in cold workshops. And being a bit fragile cos I'm getting old , and not weighing huge amounts, I need food to feed the furnace inside me. Witjhout food I just sto functioning. The Sun Flower seeds mentioned elsewhere are ace, and soups apopular thing.....but I dont like to make my work smeel of food.

Now, I have access to a nice microwave, but as we all know sarnies should be grilled or toasted, not microwaved. They go limp. And as the ladies will attest, limp aint no use to anyone.

However, using the equipment here at my disposal, and NOT wanting a toaster arrangement as the food must NOT polute with food smells....

I am looking toward the "near ideal" microwaveable cheesey sarnie.

    So far the successes are:

    # Turn the sarnie twice, every 7 or 8 seconds, to stop the lower slice of bread going stodgy.

    # Use stale bread cos it goes nice n soft but doesn't go so soggy as above

    # Butter or Margerine on one slice not both works best

    # Cheese with slices of green or red pepper works a treat

    # Celery with cheese is equally superb

    So ...guys....what wouldYOU suggest.

Gotta be easy to knock up in the morning or the night before. Gotta be buyable in bulk, ie bread, cheese etc.

What have you made that worked...and if stuff DIDNT WORK...warn me

order a pizza from dominos and have them deliver.

no doubt anything in the microwave will end up stinking.
birdseye chicken curry comes out alright in a microwave.

Subway from the night before is a great 20 sec "high" cooker in the microwave.

Other than that - it looks as if your gonna be having either soggy butties from the microwave or soggy butties due to your egg mayo freezing/defrosting

Would you not be able to have a sandwich maker for the same reason as the toaster?

Now the best invention I saw was this:

    http://www.firebox.com/index.html?di...product&pid=28

    Toastabags...

All you need is a toaster and voila! Instant toasted sarnies, omlette, scrambled egg etc

    AND they're re-usable!

    Stu

Also, theoretically, they shouldn't be too smelly cos they're mostly in a bag... and beleive me, you can make the office smell with a microwave

its blummin hard trying to get nice hot food with no smells.

I clean the microwave a lot, so its doesn t smell too bad,

I have the toaster bagd and they are ace....but I was hoping for a miracle...I guess miracles are still rare

Hot cheese does'nt smell too bad, not do vegetable....but as soon as meat of spices get involved the smell starts.

Microwaves are the spawn of satan I tell ye

Not got one, don't need one. Nothing tastes good after being microwaved. The George foreman grilling machine however is a blessing. Makes THE best toasted cheeze & spring onion sarnies

Ham, Tomato and brie micro-nuked for only 20 seconds! You might prefer to leave the top bread slice off - make 2 sarnies in both ways for a delicious experiment.
If you like mayo add it after the microwaving as warm mayo is yeuck!
    Lots of black pepper! Yummy!
I've just eaten a slimfast for lunch and now feel like raiding the local sandwich shop for a bacon brie and tom sarnie.

I like cheese (brie works nicely) microwaved on a flour tortilla until browned (almost burnt). Becomes very crispy once it has rested a bit. Nice with pepper.

Little bit of mayo or mustard or both, 2 slices of ham, two slice of salami, enough parmesan shaving to cover the surface of the slice, put other slice of bread on top, in the microwave or oven until chees melts...mmmmm

And you can even toast the bread before if you want your sandwich to have a crunch (in this case warm up in the oven though)
Sky rockets in flight... Afternoon delight
