Re: Which instant coffee?
I used to like the Kenco Smooth, but again after spoiled by the bean machine the last jar got thrown out for being too many years after the best before :)

Re: Which instant coffee?
I'm not a coffeee aficionado by any stretch, but I like Nescase Azera Americano
Has that smell of freshly brewed coffee, and gives a nice frothiness on the top, like coffee from a Cafetiere.
Re: Which instant coffee?
If you have access to a kettle have you consider the aeropress? Its a lot more convenient than a French press and can give good coffee while its very small and just needs a kettle, ground coffee and a tiny pack of filters. Could be a good option if conditions allow? Just make sure you learn the inverted method. That way you can have real coffee... I know a lot of people like to take them camping. It took me real effort to get it just right (some beans work well at 95C and a quick plunge so no waiting) but was worth it.

Or even easier, a V60. This vid shows them grinding their own but pre ground works just as well. Takes me no longer than an instant coffee.

The best thing about instant coffee...
...is cracking the seal on a new jar. It's all downhill after that.
Re: Which instant coffee?
Get a single cup tea infuser and put ground coffee in it:

Re: Which instant coffee?
Thanks folks. Few things there for me to look in to
Re: Which instant coffee?
Just avoid anything with 'Nescafe' written on it.
Mostly I just have whatever the Ttaskmistress buys in. Currently we have Cafe Direct and some Dowe Egberts.
I like a smooth, gentle coffee with a heavy nuttiness to it... hazelnut, ideally, but I rarely find anything that really suits and can't be bothered messing around with expensive syrups.
Maxwell House do a nice vanilla one that we have in the machine at work, but none of our local shops seem to have it.

I guess it depends what you are looking for. This site has a good comparison: https://espressodojo.com/aeropress-vs-v60/
I do like that even watered down the aeropress is decently strong (I like an americano style).

True. I compensate somewhat by going for a stronger blend in my V60.
