Oops.. Garlic Fingers....

:Oops: anybody know how to get rid of garlic fingers? Did a rather nice chicken with red peppers thingy for dinner last night, and it called for some finely chopped garlic.. Now I've had the sander out on me fingers to stop em reeking of garlic, but to no avail... has anyone got ANY antidotes I can try? :(

Those metal smell-killers you can buy (you "wash" your hands with them as if they were a bar of soap) are just stainless steel. Try rubbing your hands aginst a stainless steel pan under running water. It's supposed to cause an electrical / chemical reaction that breaks down the smelly compounds.

I've got the XL version of those, it works quite well, you need to rub it on your hands for a couple of mins for strong smells though.

Put them in boling hot water for a while.

Upping Lemon juice. Or tesco anti bacterial soap ( the blue one) works quite well too. Is it me or does Cillit Bang sounds like something you would find in a sex shop?

how about using a garlic crusher thing you can get one for 99p in tesco and or use some
disposable plastic gloves.

cold water with no soap works

my gran uses soda water mixed with the ashes of cherry blossom and the finely chopped liver of a mouse dissolved in a pint of stale milk. But we put her in the home ages ago and the medication stops all that nonsense

Tumble - steel works well, or if really bad - use some sugar soap (diswashing liquid + granulated sugar) the problem is the garlic trapped down the side of your nails, and under the quick - steel won't get that out, but sugar will.

Better than steel, try silver. Just grab one of those silver goblets everyone has lying around.
