    Turbo cider

Well this is as easy as it gets! Grin
(called turbo as its so quick and easy)

    Ingredients:
    4.5L of pure apple juice
    1tsp yeast

    Method:
    1. Place 3L of apple juice into a demijon (assumeing everything is sterile)
    2. PLace 1tsp of yeast into the demijon
    3. shake
    4. leave for 36-48hrs to ferment then top with with the remaining of the juice (cant fill it right up at the start as it will foam quite a bit)
    5. leave to ferment out
    6. Rack off and drink (or if you like cider fizzy then prime as usual)

i thought i would try this out and i was very impressed with the results.

    it is sssooooo easy

i used tesco value apple juice and SG was 1.042 so no sugar was necessary (to get to 5.5%ish) but if you want cider stronger add sugar/honey or whatever.

very good for a beginer and an expert alike!

good for trying out different yeasts also since the recipe is so simple and the ingredients vary so little.

home brewing isn't that hard at all.

however make sure thet you clean everythign very well.

if you can't get proper brewing steriliser stuff , use milton tablets.

a great resource is http://www.art-of-brewing.co.uk/ I used to get loads of stuff from them

36 hours for the first bit, then when you add 1.5 litre more... same amount of time?

I'm always tempted to get back into home brewing, but I live an hour and a half from Dover, I can get a ferry for £25, and wine is less than 60p a bottle in France...so I really don't know if it's worth it. Still, my first proper homebrew was wicked, I got one of those super strength kits from Boots and made a gallon of pseudo malibu- it was obviously homebrewed, but it was drinkable and at least 20% strength. I had several pissups out of it and it got my best friend stupidly drunk on one occasion when he was supposed to be babysitting my little brother. As a finale, I filled an empty evian bottle with it and took it to a party at a hired venue. I tucked the bottle into my waistband (behind my back) on my way in, and when one of the bouncers caught me drinking it later I just blagged it that it was water.

That summer, I brewed another gallon of 'cherry brandy' and took it with me to Newquay for a lad's week. Not quite as stong, but it did us. My final effort was to buy a can of 'strawberry wine' and a seperate sachet of teast. That one didn't really ferment through properly; I guess it only got to about 8% and the finished product was still very sugary. If you drank a whole bottle it would give you a serious stomach ache....but I never let that stop me. On student nights out I'd cane one and then try and get into the bar ASAP so that I could water it down with a pint. On a couple of occasions I had to wait outside for half an hour doubled up in pain.....but it always passed, and it was still the equivalent of three pints for a quid.

Oh, I love being a cheap bastard.
