    Mushrooms

I was speaking to this French guy over Xbox Live the other day.

He told me that mushrooms taste best when:

Fried with a little butter, dash of salt and pepper and then add some soy source to the pan.

    What is this called?
    Have you tried it?
    Would you recommend it?

I've tried it without the soy sauce, thats an intresting idea, but yeah, mushrooms are fantastic, with butter, like he said, a dash of salt and pepper, and can go very nicely with some cheeses, I think melting some cheese over the mushrooms, can be fantastic , although many other cheeses also taste great too.

Goes well with most meals. You can grill them, if you're using cheese alone thats probably the best way to do 'em, but if you're pan frying 'em, butter and or cheese are great, so long as you dont mind what will probably feel quite greasy

Mushrooms from xbox live? Now thats clever!

Reminds me of the old knorr advert lol.

Also being a bit of a cook you can use soy to add intensity and depth to a lot of dishes like spag bol etc. Use a good quality soy from a chinese supermarket if you have one local, plus it'll ocst you fraction of the price you get charged in normal shops

it's all about the kind of mushrooms you get imo

Chestnut mushrooms (i like the baby ones)

    shiitake Mushrooms

or those dried ones you have to soak (can't remember the name of these so no image) are all far far superior to the regular button ones.

If you're a real man, eat a death cap!!

Only joking, my brother-in-law bought a butt-load of those dried ones, I also can't remember what they're called, but my sister stews them for a good twenty minutes or so then you can eat them with practically anything and they also have a really meaty texture its quite bizare...

I personally prefer them stewed in a rich beef gravey with some lovely thick cuts of steak and a large portion of chips... YUM!! YUM!!

Don't know what it's called but would heartily recommend it - go easy on the salt though if you're using soy.
