Protien or Similar shakes worth it?

I work out 3 times a week, and am looking to build up a bit quicker than currently. Would u recommend using something like a protien shake too speed things up?
I researched a little bit and am confused as too why there are so many with so many different things in...

    Anyway, suggestions would be great

    Cheers

myoplex original is what i use

    http://www.auravita.com/products/aur...adid=EASA10191

as recommended by my built like a tank bro-in-law.

in my experience without using it, it takes me about a week to recover from a weights session. if I take one of these shakes immediately after a workout, I'm good again in 2 or 3 days.

they're a fast acting way of repairing the torn muscles but you have to take it immediately after your session. if possible you should also give yourself some 'fuel' a couple of hours before hand. Chicken, tuna or some such.

Totally worth it if you've hit a dead spot with weight gain. I use Promax or Cyclone personally. Cyclone is my fave, but 'kin expensive, great for recovery tho.

Check out http://www.affordablesupplements.co.uk/ns/default.asp they have occasional deals.

Dont ignore your carb intake if youre taking just protein. Carbs are like the Taxi that gets the protien to where it's going.

Progain gets top marks from me.

'Progain from Maximuscle is Britains best selling weight gain product. The technology in Progain has made it staple diet for many top athletes, bodybuilders, and sports stars alike, from beginners to advanced. Unlike other weight gainers, which load up the calories with protein that cause side effects, such as egg, milk, casein, and soya. Maximuscle Progain contains that same protein used in Maximuscle Promax.

If you've used other weight gainers, you'll be amazed at how well Maximuscle Progain mixes. You don't need milk with Progain, it mixes with water with a few stirs of a fork, no blenders needed.Maximuscle Progain has been voted the best tasting weight gainer for the last three years running.p>
    Maximuscle Progain Highlights:

    * Each serving of Progain gives you 32.4g Protein
    * Progain contains 600 Calories per serving
    * Progain has an excellent multi-vitamin and mineral blend to offer all round nutrition.
    * Progain uses low glycemic maltodextrin, this provides sustained energy release and is the least likely to turn to fat.
    * Maximuscle Progain comes in 2 kg containers and is available in Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla and Banana Flavours'

£31.99 a tub mate. Buy it, use it and you will pump up like Iron Mike, or if you are really lucky, like 0iD!

For just protein (not weight gain) I'm currently using this stuff and highly recommend it.

Well its not cheap, no. It works though, so its all about choices.

Try a tub, but take 1 scoop a day instead of two, and buy a much cheaper protein powder or some creatine, and mix that up for your second scoop. (Don't put a whole scoop of Creatine in, just a few grams ) Your tub will last you close to a month that way, and you'll still feel the benefits, so long as you put the work in.

This ProGain stuff will add 1-3lbs a week to your frame though, so it might be worth finding the pennies, at least for your first few tubs, then if you don't think its worth it, you can find something else.

    Sorry for bumping old post...
If anyone is interested, www.myprotein.co.uk do very cheap protein.
I have used the expensive stuff (reflex) and I can honestly say that the myprotein stuff is just as good. You can get other body building supplements like creatine there too.
PM me if you want a discount (referral) code.

Protein is the building blocks for muscle growth, without suffiecent protein you will not grow muscle. Technically you don't need whey protein but its easier and cheaper then eating 7 chicken breasts a day
