    Lentil Soup

i just made a pot of this, and oh my god, i want to eat it all right now! It's so yummy! and so easy to make!

    250g Red lentils
    1 large carrot grated
1 large white onion finely chopped
1 pork (or whatever kind you like) Stock cube

    1. Wash lentils in cold water. Meanwhile, boil kettle.
    2. dissolve stock cube in boiled water & transfer to large pot. Add washed lentils add more of the boiled water & bring back to the boil.
    3. Add carrots & onion and leave to simmer for 25 mins.
    4. Add more water to desired consistancy.
    5. Season to taste.
    6. Serve with crusty rolls

I often grab a smoked gammon, and use the water from that to make the soup. 200 gms of ham makes it even better for me at least (being the carnivore that I am).

Also a couple of cloves of crushed garlic always help.
    Cheers, David

I've made something similar with a gammon hoch - costs about £1 from the supermarket

I don't have the time to make real stock. I just took a notion to make it last night after paying 80p(!!) for a cup of it. Had it for lunch and it was divine!

    Re: Lentil Soup

When I was a kid we used to make this really think lentil soup in a slo-cooker. I think it may have involved a ham bone. we used to get in and eat the soup and some crusty bread for dinner.

does anyone have a clue how I could make this? Would the recipe above do it?
