    Testing RAM

After just installing another 4GB of the same ram on top of my current 4GB Corsair DHX 2 6400 C4 Ram.

I went on to overclock the Q9650 but Prime95 kept giving a rounding error on the first core, upping the voltage on the CPU did help slightly but I suspect a faulty stick of ram.

What is the best way to test the ram? It was running at 1.8v but I have now set it to 2.1v because I believe that is what it should have been.

Another unusual thing is, in CPUZ, my old 2 sticks show an EPP, the new ones dont?

    What does this mean?

    Thanks all

    memtest86+ 4.0 - http://www.memtest.org/
You may need to disable legacy usb support in the bios to prevent erroneous failures. This will prevent you from using a usb keyboard inside memtest and on the windows boot screen tho.

I've had memtest pass for 8 hours before reporting a failure, but that was (and still is) a motherboard issue.

    Re: Testing RAM

Have you got the latest BIOS?

I'd test just the new RAM on its own, at stock settings, with MemTest86+ overnight. If that produces errors test one of the sticks on its own (I'm assuming it's 2x2GB sticks). If neither of those give errors test the old sticks.

    Re: Testing RAM

Thanks, the DDR Voltage is showing as 2.2v in Everest, but in the BIOS I have set it to 2.1v

    Why is that?
