Just curious if using PC8500 RAM at 1066 MHz with a stock E8400 provides any benefit to running the same RAM at PC6400 800MHz?
I'm not one for running benchmarks, or know which to run anyway. But curious if it 1066MHz had any benefit.

It's not going to make much difference to be honest.
If you increase the clock speeds (slight improvement) you'll also have to loosen/increase the timings (slight performance decrease) - so overall there will be very little difference.
The main benefit of faster RAM is that you can increase the FSB higher to improve CPU clock speeds, whilst keeping the RAM stable.

As I suspected. Only for increased headroom if decide to overclock CPU.
