Question about RAM, is this normal?
I recently ordered another exact same matching stick to:
Crucial 2048MB PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 240-pin DIMM CL6 Unbuffered Non ECC
http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...d=ct25664aa800
Model - CT25664AA800
Error Correction - Non ECC
CAS Latency - CL6
Despite it having similar labels and stickers.
CPU-Z and AMD Overdrive show its manufactured by Micron and not Crucial
A bit of googlin shows that crucial AFAIK is a subsidary of Micron Technology.
I wouldnt have been too bothered but the model numbers are both different.

A part from that they are the same
Is this normal for manufacturers to do this? Would it make any difference if I were to overclock? Should I ask for an exchange?
Re: Question about RAM, is this normal?
It's pretty common place, when did you order the original stick ?
So long as both sticks of ram are the same speed and timings etc I don't see there being too much of a problem.
Re: Question about RAM, is this normal?
the original was from aria bought at the start of this year, this one was from ccl
Re: Question about RAM, is this normal?
It's always worth having a crack at OCing and see what happens, if you get an instability then you know where the problem is, if not then don't worry :)
Re: Question about RAM, is this normal?
Yup, Crucial uses Micron chips. If it works I wouldn't worry about it, probably just because it's from a different batch. I don't think exact pairing is as big a concern as people make it out to be, maybe it is if you're overclocking it to the limits it might matter?
Re: Question about RAM, is this normal?
As the others have said, It is not a problem. Crucial is just the consumer retail brand of Micron.
