ram coolers
i have corsair dominator ram in my pc and the corsair ram cooler has finally given up. the thing is i do not want another as its crap, spins way to fast, makes way to much noise and wont spin up under 50% meaning its not much cop for my koolance tms controller card as i have it set to kick in at 45 degrees @ 50% until things cool off.
at 50% load i can still hear it and now a fans finally given up its time for a change.
any idea what will fit over that ram ?

Re: ram coolers
I thought DDR3 RAM ran cooler than DDR2 RAM?? If the RAM is not overclocked I would stop worrying TBH.

Re: ram coolers
it is overclocked, its running near 1700mhz :)
easy gets above 50 degrees without the fan.
i might just find a couple of 60mm fans to replace the kak corsair used.

Re: ram coolers
I had one of their Airflow units (the 3x 40mm fan version) and removed it after a couple of weeks due to the excessive noise its fans made. 20 odd months later and my RAM is still working just fine without it. Granted, mine isn't overclocked though.

Re: ram coolers
What do these RAM coolers clip onto to stay in place. I would have thought that the cpu cooler will shift some of the heat from the RAM chips.

Re: ram coolers
they fit onto the clips that snap shut when the rams inserted.
as my pc is water cooled there is no air coming form the cpu :)

Re: ram coolers
Nice and easy install then. I might get one!

Re: ram coolers
Go for a KingSton HyperX COOLER, cools upto 6 rams, nice blue LED, Black or Blue metal design...

Re: ram coolers
Please don't use RAM coolers. They just make a lot of noise. Your RAM will cope fine without them. A much better solution is to add more case fans to improve general airflow. Larger fans shift more air and make less noise as they can spin slower. Improving case airflow will also benefit your CPU and GPU temps.

Re: ram coolers
Yeah, I agree, there is no need for RAM coolers, if your case has enough cooling within it. They all tend to make more noise than case fans, so really, the noise level will be lower if you just install a few more fans (if possible) or you could look into water cooling.
