Will this RAM be compatible?
Hi guys,
Such a simple question this time, I'm almost embarrassed to ask it, but I can't find definitive confirmation elsewhere.
I'm upgrading the RAM for someone else's old Packard Bell iMedia 2215 (I think). It's got, I believe, a single stick (manufactured by Micron) of 1GB of DDR2 RAM running at 667Mhz. I think the Vista installation would benefit from more, so I've found this cheap stick of 2GB Kingston RAM. Problem is, I can't seem to confirm on the Kingston website whether it will be compatible: I am 99% sure it is (can't see why it shouldn't), but since it's someone else's money I'm spending, I just want that extra assurance.
Obviously it'll only run at 667Mhz (although it's rated for 800Mhz) because of the other 1GB but I don't see that will be a problem.
Can anyone confirm/deny that this RAM will work?
Cheers,
Leggie
Re: Will this RAM be compatible?
It should work, very unlikely that it won't.
Re: Will this RAM be compatible?
It should be ok. if You can get the model no of the motherboard you can check on their site if it supports 800Mhz memory
Re: Will this RAM be compatible?
What is your MoBo?
How much Memory supports your MoBo?
How much voltage?
Unless knowing these, it won't be a gentle answer to say 'it will work'.
Re: Will this RAM be compatible?
If its same voltage it should be alright. I'm using 1333 ram on 1066 and had no problems with my mobo (gigabyte p41) detecting it

Well, make sure that it supports 1330 Memory speed.

Thank you for your responses. I think this thread can be closed though, since my original query was in February 2011. For the record, there were no problems, the RAM worked fine on their system.
