problem with RAM upgrading
Hi all.
l want do an upgrade my RAM on my Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 (AMD platform)
Currently l have two 2X OCZ DDR3 1333 2G CL 9-9-9-20 1.65v on Dual-Channel 0
And l am thinking put a 2X Corsair DDR3 1333 4G CL 9-9-9-24 1.50v on Dual-Channel 1
Therefore, l think this will give 12G Dual-Channel RAM
Just wondering is there any stability issues with this mixture of different brands of RAM?
Because all the SIZE, CL and Volt are all different
Thx in advance~:)
Re: problem with RAM upgrading
Do you already have the Corsair? Otherwise I think you are better off getting 2x4GB DDR3 1600 and leave out the 2x2GB you have now. Unless there is a reason you need more than 8GB?
You should set the latency (CL) and voltage in the BIOS. The Corsair should run at 1.65v at its rated CL.
You should also check first if the OCZ you have can run at CL 9-9-9-24 1.65v, which I think it should, but every chip is different.
They might work work together. However I think most people tend to use the same RAM model only just in case.
Also if you are using 32bit Windows, then there is no point, as it can only see maximum 4GB RAM anyway.
Even if you use 64bit Windows, you wont use more than 2-3GB under normal use. 4GB will most likely be enough for gaming.

Thx a lot, l think l will either go 2x4G leave 2x2G out or try to find anther OCZ 2x2G,
