Should I get 16GB more ram (quad channel) (32GB total)? Anything silly I can do with that much RAM?

It won't add any more performance, but what are you currently RAM limited in?
here is my opinion
4gb moderate
8gb Happy system
16gb Super quick boot up ram drive possible
32gb Reeeeallly overkill time unless your an 3d modeller or something like that
Stay cool dude
RAM drive where you can put temp files and such on.
Multimedia work.
and
which version of windows do you have? windows 7 home is limited to 16GB max.
Yeah Windows 7 Home Premium 4 GB on 32bit and 16 GB on 64bit
and on Windows 7 Home Basic 4 GB 32bit and 8 GB on 64bit

Massive RAM is useful for Virtual machines
Performing sorts on massive datasets in SPSS.
Seriously - I've seen a 2million record dataset pull more than 18GB of system RAM just for a sort. No idea what algorithm it uses, but it's not particularly well optimised...
As said before, it depends if your OS supports it for a start otherwise you'll have to upgrade that too. If you are editing videos or pictures or perhaps turning your pc into a VM Ware or similar virtual server then the extra RAM might be beneficial.
I'm not completely stupid guys . I have 16Gb Ram and I'm running what ever version of windows 7 ultimate and soon windows 8. My system does support it and yes I do 3D model. I got x79 set, just thinking about the smug factor mostly... I know but I cant help it.
Any information on RAM drives? Sounds interesting.
lawl that's monstrously large... do you ever run into a barrier with 16gb?
Adobe products munch up ram. Even so, 12 would probably be plenty. I'm also interested why people might need that much
Funnily enough the barrier is around 150 million polygons, but then everything slows down. Rendering detailed high poly scenes also eats up ram. I've got it to 99% usage before (Thats when it keeps the 1% in case). Don't think I will need 32GB of ram but from experience I will need it in 2-3 years time for normal everyday use and I want to snap it up while it is cheap.
I have myself a little tier of requirement:
4GB: Standard Desktop use/word precessing/office based work
8GB: Minimum for Gaming/Multiple application use at once
16gb: Maximum for Gaming(from a performance POV)/Minimum for rendering work or apps with high polygon counts/Really small scale servers
32Gb: Moderate rendering work/Small to moderate server work
if you think you can use the extra 16Gb, then go for it, ram is cheap now and if I thought an extra 8Gb would run my games better id probabaly get it, but chances are it would just interfere with my overclocks using up the full 4 slots than just 2.
I didn't really think over clocking ram would even save time considering 1866 is hardly any different to 1600.
Only DDR1 vs DDR2 is a big difference in performance imo.
