    Retro RAM Upgrade Help

I have an old Laptop / Desktop, Medion FID2130 that I am starting to make into a desktop machine with custom case, so I can use Windows XP software and play games.

Yes, I could do this via VM but always fun to use old hardware and save it from landfill.

The RAM it has at the moment is two sticks of DDR SODIMM 200 pin 333Mhz PC2700 at 256mb per stick. So a total of 512mb

Thinking of getting a couple of 1GB RAM sticks to rise the overall memory to 2GB

Just wondering if the motherboard will be happy with this? The Laptop is quite an obscure model and information about it is in the wind, if ever there was any.

I understand the limitations of Windows 32bit 3.5GB limit, but I think 2GB will make the machine much more usable.

A quick google shows Mr Memory listing a max of 1GB for that notebook:

The only hit I could get for 2x1GB is some marketplace vendor on Amazon who doesn't give any real details.

    Just found this https://www.memoryxxl.net/arbeitsspe...fid2130/512mb/
did need to translate it but it says
    Memory ex factory:2x256MB (removable)
    Maximum Ram:2GB
    Slots:2

Think it may be worth to keep digging and see how many other sites come up with something.

Good news, I got around to fitting the 2GB (2x1GB) and the old machine liked it.
