DDR3 versus DDR3L

Just looking on Crucial's site for RAM for a Gigabyte GA-H97-DH3 mobo (I might be using it) and the two sorts are as above.
The DDR3 is 1.5V and the DDR3L is 1.35V. On the assumption that lower voltage reduces wattage, 1.35V seems the way to go, but is there any disadvantage to it?
I won't be overclocking at all.

If you are running it at the stated parameters, I can't see any disadvantages at all!

Other than checking your CPU and motherboard are compatible with running RAM at that voltage, it's all good.

I use DDR3L myself - have done since I built my 2500K based rig a few years back.

Theres no disadvantage at all. In fact I've a sneaky feeling that due to using the corsair white 1.35V RAM I've been able to get a better overclock and been able to run my CPU at a higher speed because of it.

I run 4x 4GB sticks of Samsung Green which are DDR3L and are legendary for their overclocking abilities. Stock speed is 1600mhz with timings of 11-11-11-28 at 1.35v But these can be tightened up to 7-8-8-21-1T with no voltage increase at 1600mhz or in my case, can be run at 2133mhz with timings of 9-10-10-21-1T with only 1.5v. They can go on to 2400mhz 11-11-11-28-2T but I found my settings at 2133mhz to be faster. Unfortunately they are discontinued now and it doesn't look like they will be doing a DDR4 equivalent.

***Edit***I know you said you won't be overclocking but this shows the potential and another plus for the low voltage is cool running. Mine have no heatspreaders and barely get warm.

The disadvantage is that you get slower speeds for the same price because fewer chips make the stricter binning, so you'll pay the same price for DDR3L-1866 that you pay for DDR3-2400.

Thanks to all for the information etc.
I'll go with the 3L - I'm not o/c-ing (at a guess, the o/c-ability is due to the RAM having more thermal 'headroom' due to the lower starting voltage and perhaps more QC.
The price form Crucial is still only £20 for 2x2GB so not worth considering. I can't use more as the OS will be 32-bit (I know!).
