RAM on the i5 6600K

This may well be a repeated subject, I'm sorry, but I have scoured the internet and nobody seems to know what is happening...
I would like to buy an Intel i5 6600K who's specs say that it's maximum supported memory speed is 2133mhz, however in the DDR4 ranges there are much faster sets...
So my question is, being that this is a relatively high end CPU, do I want to spend the extra money on faster memory to get a performance boost in another way? That's another impression I get from the internet, that there are multiple ways of judging RAM speeds... It all confuses me and I really hope someone on here can help me!

The maximum supported memory speed (2133 MHz) is in relation to with motherboards which doesn't support memory over clock (most,if not all but the ones with Z170 chip set).

The faster memory kits been designed in mind to use with the Z170 motherboards and you reach higher that officially supported speeds via over clock.

Unless you are hard set for some epeen enlargement, I would skip over any unnecessary expenses associated with higher memory speeds. If you can get a faster set for the same, go for it.
But I would say the leftover money would be invested in anything else (SSD,CPU cooler,GPU).

I'm using 3000MHz on my Core i5 6600K, seems to be working extremely well!

Got to second Bonebreaker777, from every review and benchmark I have seen the higher memory speeds make barely 1-2 fps difference.

Go with the faster if the price difference is negligible, otherwise don't worry.
