Network Adapters
Hi Everyone,
I have recently signed up with Sky for my broadband and have set everything up but cannot connect to the net, I phoned sky and they told me I should have an Ethernet adapter under network adapters in the device manager, but all i have is network controller,
I have tried searching the net to download the correct adapter but don't really know what I'm looking for!!! which makes it a little tricky so if any one could tell me where i can get the correct adapter i would be most appreciative
I am using Windows Vista
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3500+
1023 MB
32-Bit operating system
Thanks for any help
Dave.

Re: Network Adapters
Hi There
The networking controller is the ethernet adaptor - does it show as working or does it have an exclamation mark against it?
As you are running vista the driver should already be loaded - what motherboard do you have?
Hope this helps

Re: Network Adapters
Hi JH
There is no exlamation mark beside the networking controller and says it is working,
My mother board is
Model: ASUSTek Computer inc. A8NE-FM
Chip Set: NVIDIA NForce4 (Crush ck8- 04) + CK8-04 MCP

Re: Network Adapters
Hi There
i think thats an OEM motherboard the asus site wont have drivers - mesh would provide them - vista however would have most drivers within it.
However if it shows as working its likely to be something else wrong
with the sky netgear router plugged into the ethernet socket can you connect to it via internet explorer
192.168.0.1 ?

Re: Network Adapters
No,
i just get a blank page telling me there is no connection
Its strange because I have had broadband before with tiscali and it worked, till i moved house that is and Tiscali seemed to take ages to connect me so Id thought i would try Sky!!!

Re: Network Adapters
Hi again
can you check your adaptor settings
go to network, network and sharing centre, network connections
right click on adaptor then properties then click on tcp/ip properties and make sure that the general tabs say obtain ip address and dns settings automatically you may have one or 2 tcp entries to check
try this its often a problem
try then accessing the sky router again 192.168.0.1
if this doesnt work try right click on adaptor then repair
