    Speakers.

It's taken some tiem for me to query this, but why is it that you sell a computer with Logitech s500 speakers when that computer itself cannot support surround sound?

Or is it perhaps just me not being able to install it correctly? It doesn't seem that difficult every thing is colour coded.

Out of the 5 speakers i have two working with the sub woofer, the other three are locked away in a cupboard. This is very dissapointing really...

    What's the problem?

    Hi mattnstuff,

It's likely just configuration as we haven't done a system that cannot do 5.1 as a bare minimum for quite some time.

Could you enter your Mesh Order Number into the box provided within your Hexus.net profile please? That should enable me to see what hardware you have and so what your system is capable of.

    Re: Speakers.

i had a surround problem which lasted 10 mins,i couldn't use surround using the hd realtek menu,ie hall etc,but as soon as i set that to nothing then set my creative console launcher to 5.1 etc..it works fine.i think if you have creative it conflics with realtek, also adjust the graphics equalizers in creative not windows media player, because if you enable the 2 the sound bounces around and dips,so just use the creative console settings which work with media player, but just knock off the equalizer tab to off in windows media player...try this

Take those other two speakers out of the cupboard and plug them in. Click Start, Control Panel, Sounds & Audio Devices... on the Volume tab, click the Advanced button under Speaker Settings. From there use the Speaker Setup dropdown and select 5.1 surround sound speakers.

I'm looking on the invoice and there is no order number.

I'll scan my emails and get it up ASAP.

Globox, with reference to your comment, there isn't a section in my Control Panel with "Sound & Audio Devices". It's just "Sound", and in that there isn't a volume tab where i can view advanced speaker settings. :S

OK, so you aren't running XP Professional then... maybe a Vista expert can help?

I wouldn't have thought there would be that much disimilarity between sound settings on XP and Vista. I searched through everything on the Sound tab and found nothing with regards to 5.1

    :/

    Re: Speakers.

    Hi mattnstuff,

The Sounds section in Control Panel is more or less the same as the Sounds & Audio Devices that Globox refers to. If you double click on it you should see at the very least a reference to speakers that you can click on, the click the Advanced button to get the options to change speakers in use. And if you double click on the reference to speakers you find advanced options for the sound output.

I would suggest first checking the above to make sure the system is set to use your 5.1 speakers (plug them all in first though). If this does not work, download the most recent drivers for the onboard sound here and try re-installing them.

    Re: Speakers.

Ok I'm downloading the drivers as I realyl can't find anything in the sound settings with reference to turning on 5.1 or any other sound output settings.

When i go on "Sound" it shows me straight away 4 different speakers:
    Speakers - Bluetooth AV/HS audio
Speakers - High Definition Audio Device (This is the logitech speakers)
Headphones - High Def Audio Device
    Digital Output Device (SPDIF)

This is where i should be able to configure 5.1, but i don't have the option. I only have stereo.
