Terbinator (05-01-2011)
Yep, it's true. I don't understand how intel managed this sillyness.
Edit: oh it's part of the GPU makeup! umm, z68 chipset anyone?

Pretty awful design decision TBH.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
You want to use the IGP on your new Sandy Bridge CPU get an H67 motherboard which look to be the cheapest socket 1155 motherboard chipset. OTH,if you want to get a cheaper motherboard to use a Core i5 and overclock it you are out of luck since supposedly you cannot overclock with this chipset! Want to overclock then get a P67 motherboard but you cannot use the IGP and any extra functionality you gain with it! However,if you want to overclock and use the IGP get a Z68 chipset which probably will be the more expensive of all the current socket 1156 chipsets.
Funnily enough having two chipsets for socket 1156 was enough it seems but it looks like Intel was not making enough money so they need three chipsets now.
I see how Intel are screwing us over with this. Especially when the force you to pay £150~ for the P8P67 Pro for SLI and now no Quick sync. They've just lost a sale here as I was going to upgrade but I may leave it not until this rumour is solved and if anything else will be out soon. Ie April when Bulldozer is released.
Horrid minefield ahead!
Making me want to start recommending AMD systems to everyone except the most performance-demanding.

Ummm just want to get this straight.
p67 no igp so no Quick sync
Quick sync = igp accelerating video encoding
But if you're using a p67 then you'll be using a separate graphics card and most separate graphics cards can still beat the igp for video encoding . . . so what's the exact problem?
However I do think leaving off the igp from the p67 chipset is crazy, just because I have a separate graphics card doesn't mean I don't want to have access to the IGP
Heck Intel could of used it as a gpgpu, maybe get Havok running better.

Sorry photobucket links broken
Pob, quicksync is quicker than a gpu; it seems to be better quality aswell. It was intel's trump card, but it doesn't work on p67?
I wish bulldozer was here!
This^ And going off the Anandtech review, looks significantly better than something transcoded by a GTX 460.

Been reading up on this from what I understand its not supported on the P67 at all since it has no onboard GPU function, but worse if you get a H67 then add a discrete GPU it automatically disables the onboard GPU also unless its connected to a second monitor so becomes unless their as well. Not the best idea for a encoding method that beats everything currently out their I must admit.
Although the quality is not as good as CPU encoding from what I'm lead to believe but better then CUDA.
