    MSI H61I-E35 - budget H61 mini-ITX motherboard for around £51!

It looks quite decent value if you want to build a cheap mini-ITX socket 1155 system:

However, the placement of the SATA ports is quite poor IMHO.

Having said that the Asus P8H61-I looks great for around £64 and has a full length PCI-E 2.0 16X slot too:

Tbh, the SATA ports placement shouldn't affect the build much as an ITX case is going to be small. Both boards do look pretty nice IMO and it makes ITX more and more affordable! Now if only there were mini ITX graphics card

Let's be honest: what we're really waiting for is mITX FM1 boards to pair with a 65W Llano APU - it's got to be the ultimate casual gaming box! Take it to a LAN party with a 17" tft monitor and you're away

I agree! If the 65W Llano A8 CPUs and suitable mini-ITX motherboards had been around at the time I bought my i3 2100 I would have got one instead! It would have been easier to cool than a Core i3 2100 and an HD5670 GDDR5. OTH,the i3 2100 is still a decent CPU.

Alternatively, if the lack of HT and a 2.6GHz CPU clock isn't a problem; you can save £35 by choosing a Pentium G620 over the Core i3 2100.

I already have the i3 2100!! The G620 is still 65W though. The G620T and i3 2100T are 35W but still the A8-3800 has a 400 shader IGP so looks a more efficient combination for gaming even if I had used an HD5570 GDDR3.

I though that Llano was going to be late Q3 but still at least I can now plonk in a Core i7 if I change the case!!

I meant 'you' as hexus in general

On a seperate note, H61 boards don't have RAID or AHCI, in case someone wanted to know.

    Re: MSI H61I-E35 - budget H61 mini-ITX motherboard for around £51!

    hi

does anyone know - or, at least, suspect - if this board is capable of booting without an attached keyboard?

i'm quite surprised that boards like this, aimed at the htpc or mini-server market, frequently don't have this feature; i have a logitech bluetooth keyboard and i plan to use that during normal htpc operations, but I still have to overcome the POST sequence...

the downloadable manual for this mb is vague at best on this topic

    thanks a lot!

Really? I've never seen a board that you couldn't set to "skip all errors" in the BIOS though I don't have anything new enough to use UEFI...
