Thread: iv orered up the wrong mainbaord, but ....

    iv orered up the wrong mainbaord, but ....

    iv just relised the mainboard(MSI 880GM-E41) iv orered is not compatabule with my cpu (AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3.0GHz ) acording to the mis website this mainbaord will not suport the cpu the lowet cpu it will suport is a x6 1065T (2.9ghz) now if i put my cpu in this will it clock down to 2.9 and be stable ?

    If you ordered the mobo from an online retailer, you can reject the board under the distance selling regulations, provided you do so in writing, and within (I think) five days of receipt.

    Might be safer than trying to use an apparently incompatible CPU in it with the risk that you won't be able to get it to work

    I've just had a quick read about the web, seems as though the motherboard only supports 95w chips. 125w chips wont work atall. i very much doubt it'll even turn on if you were to try it.

    and as your chip is 125w you'd best be cancelling that order.
