    Overclocking

Not sure where to put this as there is no dedicated overclocking forum, but it is mainly motherboard related. I've been trying to overclock my E6750 and i can get only it from 2.66 to 2.73 GHz. The fsb will go from 333 to 342 and then doesn't boot. I only have 1333 DDR3 RAM, which I suspect is the problem however my motherboard claims to only support up to 1333 (OC). Is this memory limit linked to the mobo or bios as I flashed it to the newest version, so is it possible that I can use higher frequency (1600+) memory or am I stuck with the most pathetic OC possible? I had Award bios FA now flashed to FE, but I can't find much info on it anywhere. Does anyone have any links because it looks exactly the same so I have no idea what the update actually does.

    Re: Overclocking

You should definitely be able to get more from you CPU than that, although, your motherboard is already running an overclock just to keep up with the 1333MHz RAM, so trying to push it even further will be difficult.

Does your motherboard have the memory multiplier? With my Q6600 system, I needed to go down to 1:1 on the FBS and RAM front to manage 3.6GHz, which worked out at 800MHz RAM.

Have a look for a multiplier and see if that helps.

    Re: Overclocking

I've looked through but there is nothing I can see. Will it just show a ratio or will it show the ram speed? CPU-z says my ram is running at 5:8 but I can't see that ratio anywhere in the bios. Is is likely to be in "advanced memory settings" or just in the regular memory timing and speed section?

    Re: Overclocking

It should be in the regular section.. If the manufacturers of your board had overclocking in mind at all, they will have definitely put in the MEMORY:FSB ratio option.. You want it set to 1:1 if possible..

    Re: Overclocking

You may have hit a FSB wall, lower multi then up FSB until you get a POST.

Make sure your multi is lowered a few steps though, when you find a decent FSB clock that your board will allow just raise the multi accordingly.
