    Motherboard 8 Pin Power

    Hi,

    Well I have just got a new motherboard. Its a DFI Lan PArty x48 T2R. I have a Coolemaster 680w extreme power psu...
    Problem is the board has a 8 pin slot and my PSU only has a 4 pin.

    What effect will this have on the system?
    I am the gadget man!

    Re: Motherboard 8 Pin Power

    Hi I have a Asrock Z68 Pro3 motherboard, and I am using my PSU's 4 pin connector into the mb's 8 pin one.

    I have been using it like this for months now, and it is running perfectly. Maybe check on DFI's website or forum if they have one, just to be sure, but I think it should be ok.

    You should be ok and perform as normal but don't be doing any overclocking.

    You may want to get one of these;

    Re: Motherboard 8 Pin Power

    ull be ok on the i3's im guessing its a dual core?

    Anyway if the cpu needs the extra 4 pins it wont boot, seeing you are online im guessing it booted. so no need for it.

    Only when you get to i5 i7 ull need the 8pin (on most boards) depends how the power is done on the mobo
