mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
hi
i have the following system:
Asus P8Z68-V-LX mobo
intel core i5 2500k processor
8 gig of corsair ram
650 wt corsair mod psu
6770 GPU
tsunami case - old
put it all together and installed win 7 ultimate 64 bit and all worked fine.
we ran windows update and that was fine. however, since the re-boot it will not recognise the network adaptor under windows and when you go to install the realtek lan drivers, states the adaptor is in deep sleep mode and goes no further.
has anyone else had this problem? i have viewed various other threads on line as it seems to be a common problem, but nothing works when i reset the bios and remove the cmos chip, leave the ram out for hours and unplug the psu. updated the mobo to latest bios today as i thought that would be the problem, but alas, no.
help! if you can......
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
i know you may have checked but have you looked to see if the network card is enabled/shows up in the bios if you cant see it in the bios maybe a problem with the motherboard.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
Use a linux live cd to see if the nic works fine with that. Might just be an odd driver issue.
Also, might be worth making sure the power saving features of the nic is disabled from device manager.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
Yes its showing in bios and is enabled. I have emailed Asus. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers loads. Still same issue
Nit tried ubunto.may get one and try.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
Have you tried using the drivers from the realtek website and not from the installation disk? Or the most recent ones from the Asus website might be better.
Download Driver Sweeper from Phyxion. Press F5 on startup to boot into safe mode. I think with Asus it just has the option to select windows 7 and you need press f5 again to select safe mode. It does say on screen I'm sure. Check box at realtek lan drivers, analyse and then clean. Hopefully any residual driver issues will be removed.
Reboot and install drivers again. I would try the most recent ones from the Asus site first. Sorry if any of that is totally obvious.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
I've got the same mobo and same problem. The LAN port is not flashing when the cable is plugged in and it appears dead. The cable works on my dad's computer and the LAN port flashes when the cable is connected, so it should also work on mine too, but doesn't. It's enabled in the BIOS and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling new drivers, but it's still not working. I've got a dual boot system and it doesn't work under both Windows XP or Windows 7. It didn't occur to me to try the LAN socket when I first got my mobo, as I was using wireless, but now I need it and it doesn't work. I updated to the newest P8Z68-V LX 3801 BIOS. Could this be the problem? I don't really know what else I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

hi chockimon
i contacted asus in the end and it turns out its faulty and we had to send it back to dabs. they said its a known fault but happens to 1:100 mobos. not heard from me dad to see if its sorted but dabs immediately said send it in as we went through asus.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
I tried all day to no avail, but then I googled and came across someone who said it was simply a case of unplugging the PSU power cord for 15 minutes and pressing the power button to disperse the current and then plug the cord back in and restart the computer and thankfully it worked. Ethernet has been working perfectly ever since.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
we swapped ours as faulty which it was and now the Z77 board wont install the usb3 drivers properly. pain in the arse.
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
I've never had any problems with my USB3 ports or drivers. What exactly is happening? Have you got USB3 enabled in the BIOS? Also try updating the BIOS to the latest version -3808.

Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
it was a faulty board. asus confirmed refunded and now have a Z77 which ironically is having problems with the usb drivers. it never ends. under bios they are activated, loaded windows, fine and then driver disc with gigabyte disc, fine, then windows update now buggered. formatted drive again, reinstalled windows and still not right, newest bios files and drivers downloaded. still error triangle under device manager :(
Re: mobo problem on a Asus P8Z68-V-LX
Sorry to hear you're having such rotten bad luck. Do you have USB3 ports on the front of your case? Is it the ones at the front or back that's playing up, or all of them? If it's the front, check to make sure you have plugged the USB3 cable into the right sockets on the motherboard or into the back USB3 ports if it's a pass through cable. Uninstall and try reinstalling the usb3 drivers and make sure nothing is plugged into the ports. Also make sure you use the latest drivers from the Gigabyte website. You could also try the drivers from the ASMedia website. Make sure Windows is up to date and install the Gigabyte/ASmedia USB3 drivers last.

For further assistance, try the official thread for your motherboard - A lot of people seem to be having USB3 problems with this mobo.
