    am3 matx board for htpc

Hi have all I need for rebuilding my htpc except for a board so any help in picking one.

Have a graphics card at the moment so not bothered about onboard graphics, it needs to take a Athlon ll x2 250 and needs 3 sata 3 ports also needs an optical out.

And finally will probably be upgrade later on this year when the Athlon A10 comes out so this is a stopgap

    This motherboard:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-...oogle+shopping

It is the cheapest one I can find which has at least three SATA 3.0 ports,an SB850 southbridge and optical out.

If you can forego SATA 3.0 and more RAID options, this motherboard is much cheaper:

It uses the older SB710 southbridge.

Thanks for the help, the two links are the same but i get the idea.

Can i ask one more question on why i should spend say £60+ pounds on a new motherboard for my existing cpu and not go for a FM1 set up and sell the cpu ( i know that i probally really want a FM2 when it comes out).

Just need someone in the know to push me as i am lost with the current cpu range

    The cheaper motherboard is this:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-...-on-board-matx

The need for at least three SATA3.0 ports on an mATX AM3+ motherboard is pushing the price up.

Going FM1 is another option especially since with the AMD cashback you can an A6-3670K for around £65 if the following retailers are included:

    http://www.dabs.com/products/amd-a6-...m_content=Q200

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...paign=products

The A6-3500 is around £55 too and Ebuyer had the A4-3400 for around £45 too.

However, having looked at the Toms Hardware review of Trinity,I would wait for it:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...400k,3224.html

The main reasons I would wait are that lightly threaded performance has improved, and the IGP has improved too. The TDP and power consumption seems to not have changed although the 65W TDP Trinity CPUs do look like they will be better than the 65W TDP Llano CPUs overall. The 65W TDP A10-5700 looks promising IMHO.

Thanks for the reply but i am without a pc at the moment so can't wait for too long and seen reports that it might be held up like the bulldozers
