Hi, I tested my RAM, I have a brand new graphics card, brand new CPU, brand new coolers, brand new power supply and now a brand new motherboard they sent as a replacement, what on earth is going on now.
I thought I would overclock, going fine. Then I decided to undervolt my CPU, not by much, just so that it produces less heat. If I enable any power saving or VRM spread spectrum the computer would boot and instantly shutdown again (does not get to BIOS, takes about 2 seconds and it shuts down). I have to move the jumpers to reset the BIOS or I can't get back on.
I thought the EPU settings were conflicting, so I set everything to default and changed one voltage value. Motherboard sets CPU VID to 1.35, but someone stated that the default voltage is 1.2. Set only this value, it used to work, but now for some reason I get that instant shutdown, moved jumpers. I then decided to up the CPU VID to 1.25, and then 1.3. It seems I can only get to the BIOS splash screen if everything is at default.
I used to be able to overclock at nice low voltages and was using prime95 to test, any error I would up the voltage so not to damage the CPU. I wasn't using huge voltages, only clocked to 4.2Ghz with a CPU VID at 1.35.
Many users over at overclock net can get as high as 4.6Ghz using CPU VID at 1.35 no LLC.
My overclock seemed to be stable at prime95, although I don't use this 24/7 until I know its at least 6 hours prime stable.
The board is under a week old, could I have somehow damaged the CPU with low voltages? I never have set the voltage above 1.4 because apparently the FX-6100 can clock stable with very low voltages.
Can low voltages cause damage so that you CANNOT undervolt the CPU with power savings etc?
