    Sata ports not working

Was installing a new SSD today so moved my bluray drive to the sata 2.0 port from the 3.0 and nothing is being picked up, I have tried SSD/HDD and BR drive on all the sata 2.0 ports and none are pick up but they all work fine on the 3.0 ports

Using Sata scan shows the sata 3 ports in use but nothing for the sata 2.0

Sata is setup using AHCI mode (msi site recommends enabling hot plug but when I do it just sits at the windows logo)

    Motherboard is a MSI H67MA-E45

    Any ideas :/

    Re: Sata ports not working

Having to spoke to someone at scan he thinks it's related to the intel sata 2 controller problems that were around when the boards first came out and has told me to RMA it so MSI can fix the board

You tried updating the BIOS? Not running raid or anything?

    Re: Sata ports not working

Aye using the newest bios and I tried RAID, AHCI and IDE mode in the bios, all 4 sata 2 ports seem dead

    Re: Sata ports not working

I recently had the same problem with a Foxconn H67MP-V motherboard - the four SATA2 ports have all failed while the two SATA3 ports are fine. Looks like Intel were right in recalling motherboards with the original chipset bug.

    Re: Sata ports not working

I'm guessing he's been checking the port status in the bios so drivers are irrelevant

    Re: Sata ports not working

You can check whether you have a pre-B3 revision chipset by running CPU-Z and looking on the Mainboard tab for the revision.
