Re: which one to go for PLEASE HELP

I don't think there's noticeable difference between these 2 boards in terms of performance. It's the feature set that really matters like ports and layout of the motherboard.

As for overclocking, I believe most folks now use only the multipiler to OC so the motherboard does not have a significant role in that.

I would pick the ASUS board though, only personal preference.

Personal preference, ASUS is the one to go. Performance wise they should be very similar. Quality wise, Asus should be better.

Both boards would probably be fine for you, but while the Asrock looks nicer, I would go with the Asus.

Re: which one to go for PLEASE HELP

I have the Asus P8Z77-V. Its a great board, packed with features, amazingly easy to overclock + built in wifi card. Also based on the test results i've seen the Asus has slightly better power delivery & will produce like-for-like overclocks to the AsRock at slightly lower voltages (hence less heat & power use). Finally, the AsRock has a few PCI-E limitations compared to the Asus - Asus is a better choice if you plan to SLI/Crossfire or add a few expansion cards.

Yep I agree with you also the USB 3 performance on the Asus will be faster than the Asrock as I understand not sure if Asrock have also implemented what Asus has done for its USB 3. Overall Asus is the better choice good luck with your decision.

I'd also go with Asus as a first choice, Although Asrock do seem to make some decent boards now with what appears to be reasonable support.

The problem is I always think of all those weird boards that Asrock did in the early days.

I'd also have a personal preference for Asus, but in reality I'd doubt you'd ever notice any difference and it is £20 extra.

If you are still deciding just flip a coin, it's not a big deal.

Re: which one to go for PLEASE HELP

If they were my choices I'd probably go for the Asus, but I think the Gigabyte D3 would be a better choice than both of those, which surprises me as I've been an Asus fanboy for longer than I can remember!

Edit: After reading this (and a few other reviews) I went with the Asus. Have a look on youtube if the asus products interest you, there are loads of Vids from Asus on their Z77 boards features. I.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me3Pf1XyInI
