    And this as above

Also the ATI tool took out my personal display monitor driver i.e I have one for my viewsonic monitor that ATI kicked out -- I have a thing about names matching devices - should I put that viewsonic driver back ??

Re: BIOS greyed out settings due to hardware change ?

Well I Put the PCIe card back in re-booted 3 times and NO grey any more - so it looks like I got over the line here ( firewire card ) - but I have one slight irritant ... I keep getting this error message below (jpg)

I have disabled the OnBoard card as the manual suggests ( once you are using an external device ) .. I have scratched my head and can't quite work this one out ...

Ps I have gone over to the viewsonic monitor driver

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers or used driver cleaner to get rid of left over junk

Re: BIOS greyed out settings due to hardware change ?

Decided to take off the catalyst software -- its really only needed if I revert back to the OnBoard Chipset VGA board .. it really was just a manager message ( obviously got its nickers in a twist by being rejected for this new graphics card )

I have the most up to date Catalyst driver tool, so if I ever need to go back to the Onboard I will just reinstall it

This has been an amazingly useful exercise .. I have really learn't something here

Thanks for your time and patience with this 13.5 hours since I posted and it looks like I have this thing licked now

    Have a good night
