    SATA cable lengths with mobos

recently purchased a new mobo (Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77X-UP5 Thunderbolt Motherboard) and wondering if the SATA cables will be long enough? or will i need to buy some that are longer? any1 had problems with the cables being too short? im only on planning installing two SSD drives for now.
would be a shame to find that they are too short when i come to build a new pc thinking i have all the parts.

Re: SATA cable lengths with mobos

From my EXP all the SATA cables that come with a new mobo are all the same length. Something like 0.5m (Eye ball guess). Unless you have a seriously tall case then the cable length shouldn't be a problem at all. The SATA ports on most mobo's are positioned fairly close to where the HDD/DVD drives would be anyways.

    Off topic.

Re: SATA cable lengths with mobos

Two SSD drives in the front are right next to the sata ports on the mobo, there shouldn't be any issues with whatever cable length sata cables you get.
In anycase you will get a standard length cable which fits pretty much everywhere unless you are doing some insane cable management/full tower.

Re: SATA cable lengths with mobos

ok thanks for the replies. haven't checked the lengths i just got a quick glance at them when they were in the box. and they looked quite short. presumably because they are doubled over a few times. air flow should be alot better in my new build. they look much narrower than IDE cables! i got 2 SSD drives as i want a mirror RAID them. its important i dont have any downtime or worse loss of data.
was only aiming for 20 posts yesterday. still need a few parts and now have free delivery with scan.
