    Replacement I/O Shield

    Hi Guys,

I recently ordered an 'ex demo' motherboard from ebuyer and it was listed as, 'bare board only'. I figured, i dont need the box, cables, manual or even wifi card anyway so might aswell save myself £30-40. The problem is that when they said bare, they meant completely bare, so it doesnt even include an i/o shield.

I have contacted them to see if they can source one for me, or at least point me in the right direction, but if that fails does anyone know of any alternative options to finding one?

I couldnt find it on ebay unfortunately The motherboard is this one: GA-Z77X-UD5H

    Re: Replacement I/O Shield

Serious suggestion - Don't bother? I ran my s775 rig for about 4 years without an IO shield after the board warped slightly and the shield ended up blocking a number of ports. Doesn't really make a huge difference, IMNSHO...

    From Gigabyte directly? (http://www.gigabyte.com/support-down...accessory.aspx)

They have a UK branch I think I recall.

Fair enough. I'm pretty OCD about some things myself, but since I rarely see the back of the computer it didn't bother me

I ran mine for a couple of months like that, but i ended up pulling the whole thing out because whenever i was on my pc, i just knew...

My dad is currently running without one on... and it haunts me.

Honestly contemplating selling the board and buying a new one... thats how mental i am.

Yep, or try the UK forums, they've got some great reps on there. You'll /probably/ be able to get it for free, that was the sort of thing that used to happen, but I'm not sure these days.

HAHA, Remember doing this myself on one of my old Socket 775 Builds, Even managed to paint it black. Looked even better then the original silver one. But my OCD took over knowing i wanted a proper IO Shield. Luckily managed to source one on ebay.

There was on seller i found had hundreds of IO Shields for loads of motherboards, This was sometime last year though

    Cardboard ftw

Seems to me that you can pick up old ones fairly easily, new models are harder to come by. Been through a couple of sellers stores on the bay but no luck

Can't believe that nobody made a business out of this yet. Just have some plain I/O shields, and a configurable cutter. Can you imagine the money you would make?

    Re: Replacement I/O Shield

I dont think it would sell THAT well really, bit of a niche market!

On the enote reply, ebuyer told me to contact gigabyte directly and left a number. I called them and they told me to send the request, my name, address, motherboard model and motherboard version number to returns[at]gbt-tech.co.uk.

Ill do that tonight and see how i get on.

That is impressive. When I tried to get the same from ASUS, no luck from either ASUS or any big retailer dealing with similar shops dealing with ASUS mobos.
