    AsRock FM2A85X-ITX

Hello, Although I regularly read the pages contained within the Hexus forum I have only just registered, as I need help !!

I'm looking to replace my desktop PC with something more spatially friendly. With this in mind I'm looking to build a ITX system, using a lian-li case. My issue is with Motherboard and CPU combo. Do I go expensive with an Intel i5/i7, and try and fit a graphics card [which will bump up the price quite a bit] or do I opt for AMD trinity ?

Given the unit will only be for light gaming, office, e-mail, internet etc....I cannot really justify spending too much money on the system [hence AMD]

With AMD in mind I was looking at the recently released AsRock FM2A85X-ITX. However I have heard that ASRock ITX boards are rather unreliable, hence my quest to Hexus. Does anyone have alternative recommendation ?

    Regards

The motherboard which had issues used a 3+1 phase VRM with no cooling. The A85 based one has 4+2 phase VRM with cooling:

AMD should be releasing the A10-6700 and A10-6800K next week according to rumours. The CPUs are based on the Richland update to Trinity:

    Re: AsRock FM2A85X-ITX

Thanks for the rapid reply. Be interesting to see the price of the A10-6's w.r.t A10-5's. It looks around $160 but what the UK price will be is anyone guess. In regard to the motherboard another on my list was the msi linked above.

Another main concern is the cooling situation since the RAM slots appear very close to the FM2 socket. I'm currently undertaking some investigation to determine which will actually fit these boards.

    Regards
