Hi im building a new gaming pc in a few weeks,
I have my new MO 970-ud3 REV 1.2 just arrived from scan.
I have read quite alot about the NorthBridge Heatsink on these boards being off poor quality and not doing a very good job at keeping things cool.
I have a few questions and would really like to hear from anybody who has had experince with these boards or knows of this problem.
Im not building the new pc for a few weeks so if this is going to be any sort of issue then i would like to deal with it before even putting the motherboard in.
Firstly, is it possible the whole thing is overstatted and that these chipsets while happily run without degrading at these "high" temps alot of people report of 60*70*c. I read alot of people reporting the problem, but not many actual fried boards.
If it is a problem. What can i do about it before installing my new motherboard.
I know revision 3.0 has been released and Gigabyte have replaced The NB heatsink with a new one, so its obviously a problem they are aware of, Can I request them or Scan send me a 3.0 REV board or is it just luck of the draw witch REV you receive ?.
Is it possible to upgrade the NB heatsink to an aftermarket one ?
or is there any work I can do to the current ones that could improve my situation.
Thanks in advance for any help.
