hi i currentaly have a gd8100vm-m5 olllllldddddddddd board and i am thinking aobut geting a MSI 970A-G46 but would i still be able to take my amd phenom II 945 95watt from 3 ghx to 3.4ghz with out have a VRM problem

Well, this is an interesting question because the VRMs are a bit different. In particular, the newer board will be more efficient and supply a cleaner power to the CPU which might cause it to require less voltage to be stable. It seems to me that it wouldn't be too much of an issue and would probably overclock far beyond just 3.4 with the right settings.
