ASUS allows overclock on B85 and H87 motherboards ???

ASUS B85 latest BIOS changes, supporting unlocked CPU OC and ASUS H87 latest BIOS changes, supporting unlocked CPU OC.

Is this real? And with this move you are literally not forced to buy Z87 anymore? (beside I think memory overclock, I think that is still poccible only on Z87, is it?)

Yes, as have gigabyte and asrock.

It is a multiplier unlock so afaik it is cpu only.

Also note that most of these boards are not built to the same spec as the higher boards so you won't be able to push the VRMs etc as far, so your max OC will be less.
