Any thoughts on the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P

Anyone got experience of the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ? Seems very good value (£68.38 @ Scan), I've read there's a problem overclocking with early revisions of the UD3, but this seems to be a newer board. is there something to be wary of? Other choice is a Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0

It's a build for my sons Christmas present, I have a 8320 and will be doing a mild overclock with a 7950 (wont need crossfire)

    Thanks

I bought one of those last week, to partner a FX8350, seems a good board, plenty of OC options, runs stably. It is well worth a look, it would partner that 8320 just fine and save a few quid over the 990

I've just bought one, but haven't fired it up yet (only arrived yesterday)

Should be a good budget overclocker. It's a new board, and it has got Gigabyte's Digital Power Engine (LLC - load line calibration), which was missing in Rev 1 to Rev 3 of the 990fx ud3 (added for rev 4 - that's why that revision was a better overclocker), and has 8+2 power phase. A mild overclock on a 8320 should be fine

Just to add for any future readers - there wasn't a problem as such, they just didn't include features which made it easier / allowed for higher overclocks. They were added later on though.

    It's a solid board.
