USB device over current status detected >Ahhhh HELP

Came to turn on my computer yesterday and got the above error at start up

I have an ASUS Maximus VI Formula motherboard

I have disconnected all of the USB ports including the header in the case and still get this error, I cannot get access to the Bios because the USB keyboard is not recognised. I've stripped everything off the board with no luck. I have even tried to re flash the bios but that does not work. As a last resort I have taken the motherboard out and removed the battery for a few hours and replaced it and I still get the same error. The motherboard appears to be working fine with all of the LED's working and starts up with the Bios screen detecting the CPU, memory and HD correctly.

Any one here had this same problem, I am starting to fear that this is the last of my MAXIMUS.......

Re: USB device over current status detected >Ahhhh HELP

I had a similar problem with an ASUS board a while ago, although I think the reported error in my case was PS/2 over current. I found that a motherboard jumper had fallen out - luckily I found it on my kitchen table, & once re-inserted, the board was fine. Is there any chance that a jumper on your board has come loose?

A quick Google also suggested detaching the case front USB ports, & see if that fixes the problem?

Jim, did you mean from the case or from the motherboard, since he has already removed them from the motherboard. Sounds like a strange issue. I believe there's another Jim now working for Asus so he should be able to help you

No there's no jumpers lose I have the board on a bench and have been looking at it with a magnifying glass and cannot see anything wrong. I have removed all the devices off the board and running it off a bench.

I think this is a specific ASUS error because when I Google there are people with similar problems were disconnecting a faulty case header cures the problem but not in my case..... pardon the pun.....

Asus-Jim might be able to help you out. That's an expensive motherboard to develop a fault on too I guess it's still within its three-year warranty though?
