X99 boards increased in price?
Was just looking today out of interest and was shocked to see the Asus X99 deluxe at over £300?, When I bought mine at launch I payed about £100 less than this, I know they now have USB3.1 but it seems quite the price hike?
Did I just get lucky with a pricing error or have they shot up in price lately?
Re: X99 boards increased in price?
I think you're imagining it. Lowest price I can see on historical chart was just under £270, while the longer term low price has been just under £300.
Re: X99 boards increased in price?
you are not imagining it, i'm seeing it too.
got an excel sheet with a few builds on it. last week the Gigabyte GA-X99-SLI was £149.99 it had dropped to that price from a £160 about a month ago. currently at £172.79 on preorder at SCAN.
the MSI's have gone up about £20-£30 aswell, and are on preorder.
so new stock is more expensive, current stock is cheaper. then will go up once sold out. supply and demand reasons.
edit: at least the 5820k chip is £6 cheaper since last friday :p
Re: X99 boards increased in price?
Weird, £300+ seems crazy for a mobo even if it is X99.
The reason I was looking is I want to downsize to MATX and I am looking at the Gigabyte board as its the only real option (EVGA does not get good reviews) and noticed it there.
At this rate I could sell my X99 Deluxe for a profit and it would still be a good deal :s
Re: X99 boards increased in price?
I find it hard to believe that the board was £200 and is now £300 unless it was a hideous day 1 pricing error.
You might have been telling yourself subconsciously that you 'only' paid £200 for it ;)

Again looking at a graph (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gig...story_days=180), the price hasn't changed that much. That's a recently released board, but prices in some shops have fluctuated - was £132 at Aria for a few days, but it doesn't look like there's a bigger trend (unless it's literally occurred just days ago so isn't seen on the graph yet).

yeah maybe. its fluctuating a lot though.
it could signal a trend for all the other boards. this ones affected first because it was one of the cheapest. other previously more expensive boards are now cheaper, they may soon go out of stock, then prices be raised, repeat until everythings been out of stock/preordered.
I am notoriously useless at spotting things though. apparently theres been an original spitfire flying around earlier in the week. missed the Vulcan and 2 lancasters at the airshow last year too. so, if I'm spotting pricing fluctuations, it probably doesn't mean much, but it could do because I'm probably missing something else.
only time will tell.

Re: X99 boards increased in price?
We are in august, so everything gets pushed up in price in preparation for the christmas discounts, and anyone with a large gaming purchase base is also going to try and wring out as much as it can from the big autumn release upgrades.

£200 to £225 is the most I would pay for a X99 MB. They all do the same when it comes to overclocking. Just watch out for GPU slot positions.
