Temperatures getting high with 4790k on box cooler.
Hello all. I have a question about my temps on 4790k using stock cooling.
I dont OC my cpu. Turbo is automatically and clock is rating on load to 4,2ghz.
So overall in most games my temps in load are 70-80C. Its fine for me.
But playing Black Ops 3 or Crysis 3 my temps skyrockets to 90C-100C.
So question is. Can i play safety with 90C-100C or it is too high even for stock cooling? Paste is preapplied by INTEL.
Next question. New aftermarket is must buy or not neccesarry?
I am playing now Black Ops 3 and Crysis 3 and i am worried about these temps so thats why i created topic.
Re: Temperatures getting high with 4790k on box cooler.
How long have you had the PC/CPU & cooler?
The temperature is high and surprised you've not experienced any artefacts in games yet.
Stock coolers are generally ok at stock clocks for the life of the PC free of dust, however, what tends to happen is the included paste either dries out or evaporates over time. Personally I've found around the year to year and a half mark you need to replace the stock paste. These days I make a point of removing the stock paste and using decent stuff from day 1.
I don't always think its necessary to get an aftermarket cooler, the stock cooler included with my i5 is actually quite quiet even on load - but then it would never get as hot as an i7. I'd try the cheaper option first of replacing the Thermal paste.
There is one thing that I detest about the stock coolers and that is the cheap and awful mechanism used to connect them to the motherboard. I prefer proper screw in ones by miles

On other forum they tell me that is dangerous wrong temp. I want to be sure that playing with 90-100C is safety or not.

Asking the same question over and over again will not change the answer, whether you ask it on this forum or the seven or eight other forums you have asked it. The consensus is that is probably a bit high, but not dangerously high.
