B150 Motherboard

Hello.

Are there any major disadvantages or reasons I should stay clear of this chipset? I'm building a new rig and want the 64gb max RAM and 4 RAM slots, but have no interest in overclocking and can't afford the prices of decent Z170 boards. Is the B150 set a viable option?

Well there are various features the chipset doesn't support and cut down numbers of those it does but if you're happy with the features on the board I don't think there's much in the way of hidden gotchas like H110's PCI-E 2.0 and 2 display output limitations.

The only thing I can think of it that it doesn't support Intel's Rapid Storage Technologies if that's any use to you.

If you're not interested in overclocking then B150 and H170 are both fine. H110 won't support your ram requirements though.

I've noticed that a lot of mATX boards have the PCIE slot close to the RAM slots. The RX 480 Red Devil I've ordered has a back plate - could this cause and issue with GPU obstructing the slots?

Is the Asus B150i Pro Itx a good board?

An ITX board will usually only have 2x slots for ram, you'll probably need an mATX or ATX board to get 4 slots
