confusion over which board to buy - h270 or z270?

Help!

I'm very confused over which motherboard to purchase. I will be buying an ASUS board for certain, and I want to use the I7 7700k processor.

X299 boards are out of my price range.

I don't want to go with an AMD board, have looked into ryzen but dont really like AMD.

I don't want to spend more than about £150.

I've narrowed my options down to the strix h270f, and the strix z270f.

What are the important differences. Can anyone offer any advice?

The Z270 will allow you to overclock the CPU and run the RAM higher higher than the 2400MHZ stock speed(IIRC).

What ^he said - Z-series boards (so I'm told) are the ones with all the Overclocking stuff unlocked on them.

Ah thanks that makes sense.

So if i went with the H270 it would be pointless getting the 7700k as I wouldn't be able to overclock, and would better of getting the 7700?
