Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
Hi All,
I wonder if anyone could suggest a <£200 X570 based motherboard I should be going for? I shall be installing a Ryzen 5 3600 and would like to upgrade to a later version Ryzen CPU in future.
Currently have a GTX1070, 500Gb SSD & 1Kw PSU in my 3770k PC which I would be transferring over.
Been looking at the ASUS X570-P Prime & Aorus X570 AORUS ELITE.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
You can wait and see how the B550 motherboards look in the next two weeks?? The Asus X570P Prime would be my choice under £200,and if you don't mind spending around £200 the MSI X570 Tomahawk.
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
MSI X570 Tomahawk springs to mind - it's supposed to have a strong VRM design for the money...

Edit!
Cat beat me to it!
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
I picked up a Asus TUF gaming x570-plus from CCL for £180 a couple of weeks ago (The non-wifi model). Supposed to have fairly decent VRMs for a sub £200 x570 board. Also has two NVMe slots. Seems a pretty nice board as long as realtek LAN doesn't bother you. I'm rocking a 3600 too. The budget x570 MSI/Gigabyte boards are supposed to be avoided due to bad VRMs (although the Tomahawk was yet to launch)
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
Thanks for the replies and advise!
Just finished watching that Youtube video, looks to be an awesome board for $200, punching far higher than its peers for the same money!, has pretty much all the features you might want! Far more than I would expect.
I see overclockers have it on preorder for £229! probably cashing in on the early adopters? I hope other vendors stock it for the RRP around the release date, any opinions here... will other suppliers also hike the price you think? Having checked other etailers I cant see anyone else listing the MSI X570 Tomahawk at all!
Doing a little more reading up, I am for sure gonna wait a couple more weeks to see what the B550 release brings to the table, glad I asked the question now, probably saved me some cash by doing so, cheers guys again!
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
I have an Auros Master X570, and would recommend the Elite. The VRMs are really strong, which protects future upgrading, and the board construction solid. Some of the Gigabyte software is handy - like Ryzen Master for playing with the CPU. UEFI is pretty good and the BIOS currently nicely matured (mine on the 11th iteration now).
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
I have the MSI X570. Pretty happy with it, works well with the Ryzen 5 3600, I paired it with some Corsair 3200mhz RAM too (XMP turned on). I've not done anything crazy with it though or done any overclocking yet so can't comment about that (specs in my profile).

Overclockers are offering it for £204.89 delivered, according to their website?
Edit!
Sorry, that was the Z490 Tomahawk...damn stupid motherboard names!
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
Thank you for the continued advise, its much appreciated.
I see there are quite a few who favour the MSI range of X570 motherboards, so this will make the shortlist :)
As the b550 chipset release is just round the corner and supplies of computer parts are beginning to pickup I am hoping pricing will become a little more favourable, right now costs do seem to be on the high side so going to hold out for a few more weeks.
The X570 Tomahawk looks to be one I will end up going for, the reading up I have done so far suggests its gonna be an awesome board, but gonna wait for proper reviews to see what the results are.
Please do keep any further options I should be considering coming.
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
Msi aren't too bad, but beware their branded software and I personally think the Aorus Master is the best spec'd x570 board, plus it has a waterblock available for the chipset so you can lose the fan easily. (and I'm saying that having bought the Msi ACE).

The Aorus Master is indeed a great motherboard, but in the UK it costs around £375. The OP was asking for recommendations for <£200, so the Master is a bit out of his budget, I believe...

then I would be very careful about suggesting MSI boards as weren't their lower tiers struggling with power delivery and getting panned in the forums as being problematic?

Not the X570 Tomahawk...MSI finally seem to have got their X570 act together with that one. At least, that's what the early reviews are suggesting. If you watch the Hardware Unboxed video I posted above, they explain that some of the cheap MSI X570 motherboards have been terrible in the past, but that the Tomahawk is actually remarkably good for the money. As ever though, it's always worth waiting for reviews based on retail samples before buying. Not long to wait though.

I should hope so the Gaming X is supposed to be garbage! MSI really dropped the ball with the early x570 which is crazy when you consider how good their b450 boards are. I think it was hard to produce a sub £200 x570 board and most of the manufactures cheaped out on VRMs. ASUS seemed to be the one that didn't. Lets hope they learn lessons for B550/Tomahawk.
Re: Any recommendations on X570 motherboard?
Thanks for the continued input.
The MSI Gaming X was talked about on the Youtube video provided, I was very surprised by the comments by Steve :surprised:
12 June is the official release date of the b550 chipset, so only a couple more days till release, cant wait
