the mixing bowl

I've just re-discovered this site and thought it was worth a mention for people that like their dance/electronic music. It's basically a site that offers an archive of 100's of non commercially available DJ mixes and other stuff, i've been using it to satiate my obsession for all things Radio 1 Essential Mix, but there's other stuff there too. It works on the basis that people try to maintain as close to possible a 1:1 up/down ratio. Anyway that's enough rambling the link is below :)

ah coolio! it's becoming my second home :) i've re-found some awesome mixes that deleted a few years back

Once I move into my house instead of my current halls of residence, it will be my second home, unfortunately that's not happening till September :(

i'm going to miss it when i move back home in the summer unless i can convince my dad to get broadband, but until then i'm taking plus.net for all the bandwidth they are worth, i'm in a different house next year :D

I've got better internet at home than I have at uni unfortunately. 7.8mb at home, predicted 1.5mb at my new uni house :( bah humbug.

I'm on the mixing bowl too (benwade). Share ratio is only about 0.6 atm although i've been sharing what i have for about a week solid, nobody seems to want it!

I get the new essential mixes as soon as they're out, usually get quite a high ratio on them, i've had quite a bit of traffic from the mega torrents too (the complete years worth of essential mixes) but i've only downloaded selectively from them not the whole torrent at once and i wait till i have a high enough ratio before i download another mix so that i can remain at 1:1 and above.

On a side note, the Lindstrom & Prins Thomas mix from a week or so ago is fantastic, definitely worth getting.

What is your legal stand point on these site's?

I'm not actually sure on the legality of downloading essential mixes, i know that everything on the mixing bowl is not commercially available, so no-one is losing money but other than that i don't know :embarrassed: If anyone else has a better answer then go ahead.

From what ive heard, the BBC actually stepped in and helped TMB when the BPI was looking at them.

I have nothing to back it up, but the person who told me isnt known for fibbing :)

heh... thats all water under the bridge now Agent but as long as it's not available to buy in the shops then it's okay :)

I'm on there all the time, sometimes uploading some real gems of some cracking sets and mixes.

I've just got the autobots october promo mix so that went up @ the weekend.

May I also suggest Tiesto's new Radio show on there, (Club Life) Tis very good, Although he doesnt speak in english :confused:

it was actually lee that originally pointed me there too, although i messed my ratio up too badly so had to rejoin, i was like a kid in a candy store first time round. being a bit more restrained now :P
