i don't know if this is considered a spoiler or not...but i guess if you haven't seen it, don't read this, just to be safe.
did anyone else LOVE that Davy Jones was portrayed as a tragic hero? i mean, to me, he's right up there with Roy Hobbs and Willy Loman, even Oedipus...kind of.
i mean he was tragic in that he had happiness at one point, only to have it wrenched away from him, somewhat by himself, no less.
am i talking nonsense? probably. this is me, after all...i think Darth Vader is a tragic hero, haha....maybe i'm just tragedy-crazy. i love a good sob story.
ANYWAY it was a good movie, i think. it was a little hard to follow, but only if you're rusty on the first two...i would recommend watching the others before seeing the third, but definitely see it at some point.
I thought the second one was one of the worst films I've ever seen---too long, not funny, terrible acting, boring action scenes. There was no way I was paying to see the third one!
The thing that struck me about the first one was that it was quite a "straight" movie but they played it tongue in cheek. The second one was written to be funny and as a result it was just crap---Jack Sparrow turned into Jar Jar Binks ("ooh, I havent done anything really hilarious in this scene yet, maybe I should fall over?". Yaaaaaawn...) and the action scenes were straight out of the "I be this would be great in the Xbox game" school of film writing
Utter tosh!
