well, having seen the new film I just want them to hurry up and make the next two (or however many there end up being)! I'm not a die hard potter fan but I've read the books and find the stories pretty good fun and easy to read. Knowing there's more to come its a bummer and feel there's no actual conclusion to any of the films so far - a bit like knowing lord of the rings is 3 books/films and only at the end is it all successful and done - there's always a confrontation of sorts at the end but then you know its always leading on from there for next time.
That said I think this is probably the best HP film so far, narrowly ahead of the third one which was excellently directed by the same guy who did Y Mama and Motorcycle Diaries [first two were a bit too 'cuddly' but had Richard Harris (sad he died) and the 4th just jumped around to much, missed out what I thought were some of the best bits - especially with all the build up to the worldcup and then do we see any? no!!]
so; don't read below if you don't want too...
I was impressed how closely they managed to stick to what happens in the book in this one, particularly the details rather than just the underlying story of Voldemort going for the thingy in the ministry of magic. For such a hefty book its well crammed in to the film...a few things that maybe could have been included weren't - some exclusions I could understand but managed to get around pretty well, would have liked to see the hospital thats in the book (they would have met Kenneth Branagh's character if they had and the gravity of nevill's parents condition, would have brought his character's position into perspective), they could have used the weasely twin's mayhem a bit more but it was fun what they had, and it was odd the house elf was there but had no part beyond wandering around the house - in the book its his fault it all goes tit up at the end...but other little details that got put in were great, keeping the same actors all the time really works too - it struck me as the film went on that we're actually seeing these kids grow up,from ten yr olds until the last film's done. weird but true.
So, good film, good laugh...i think the world's about to go crazy with the final book release.
