I don't have a favourite film, because what I want to watch very much depends on what mood I'm in. The Shawshank Redemption is a great film, but I wouldn't always want to watch it. 12 Angry Men (Henry Fonda, 1957) is a superb film, and I've seen it several times ..... but I'd have to be in the right mood to watch it again.
There's other films that I thoroughly enjoyed at the time (The Matrix, Ice Age or Pirates of the Caribbean) but I'm not sure I'd want to watch them again, and certainly not in the near future. So what's "favourite"? The film I most enjoyed the first time I saw it, or the one I'm most likely to watch again?
To be honest, "favourite film" is, for me, a question for which there is no answer. It's a moving target.
My best film? Sum of all beers - The Quarry Bank Chronicles, its being released on dvd this weekend.
My favourite film? too tough to call as it seems I'm very similar to Saracen in this respect, the best film I've seen recently however is A Scanner Darkly, brilliant adaptation of the book with a really cool visual style to boot, highly recommended.
yeh alien great film, liked the first 3 not sure about the 4th..how about alien vs predator?
al pacino in godfather, liked him better in the devils advocate(class).we talked about this kevin(pressure) take a big whiff!!!

The princess mononoke
Spirited away
Whisper of the Heart
The warriors
Terminator 1
Akira
Matrix (1 mainly)
The green mile
The shawshank redemption
I thought Aliens 4 was ok. As for Alien Vs Predator I found it rather enjoyable. Everyone else who've seen it has slated it. anyhow, the second AVP in the frachise is due for release over the coming months.
HERE is a trailer and it's not for kids or the faint-hearted!

Perhaps not my sole favourite - but one of my favourite Comedy remakes ............
DRAGNET!
(And cap's as I'm shouting it )
I'd rank the Alien films 1, 3 & 4 joint, 2 from best to poorest. As for AVP, it was fun, but bound to be slated as comparisons to Alien & Predator are unavoidable & it was just light fluff unlike its predecessors.
AVP2?
I expect I'll enjoy it, but I'm surprised they got the chance to make another.
Edit: 18 Jan 08 in the UK.
