I've not heard this years yet but I've got nearly all of last years on mp3 files.

Fatboy slim playing to a crowd of 100 above a pub in London was the highlight of last years and the mixing he does is nothing short of sensational.

    Re: Electric Proms

to be honest, I was really dissapointed with the whole thing.

none of the acts did anything different with the resources they where offered.

No-one re-arranged any songs, did anything different with any of their songs etc etc.

I was most dissapointed with Mark Ronsons set - not in terms of quality as it was a good set, but the fact that his album tracks have the brass section and he just re-did that live with a slightly bigger orchestra behind him, which considering who the players where on this was a waste.

    To give you an example,

Metallica did the S&M album with the New York $something Orchestra, and they did the same as Ronson, in that they played their songs the same, but totally arrange the orchestra piece, other acts have done alternative versions, almost in the same style as unplugged where a famous song has been re-written to a new style, this is what I expected of the Kaiser cheifs witht he composer and arrager they had working with them

    still good though

The Tim Burgess track was a cracker though - must better than the cover on the album.

S&M (Symphony & Metallica) with the New York Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Camen

Has to be my favourite live recording ever.

    Re: Electric Proms

hopefully you get the point, there was some great gigs, but the spirit of collaberating with the guys seemed to be lost and it was just album tracks....played exactly as they are on the album.

    Yes Tim Burgess was good.

Tried to get tickets from the roundhouse website when they were available, site was down in seconds... managed to get in to the order page once, timed out, then they'd gone!

    Will check out the link
